Thyroid Gland Surgery (Goiter, Tumors)

There are three types of conditions that require surgical intervention in thyroid diseases;

•Diagnosis of thyroid cancer after needle biopsy or if a possible cancer is suspected as a result of the biopsy,
• The disease has reached an uncontrollable level with radioactive iodine or drug treatment,
• Nodules enlarging in diameter exert pressure on the neck region.

In thyroid gland surgery, 95% of the thyroid is removed and radioactive iodine can be used in the following process. During the operations, the thyroid must be cleaned well enough not to cause the recurrence of the disease.
